Fulfillment is the process of receiving, producing, packing, and shipping customer orders — the logistics layer of an ecommerce business.
Fulfillment is the end-to-end operational process of turning a placed order into a package on a customer's doorstep. For a print-on-demand business, it includes: order receipt, production queueing, printing, quality control, framing, packing, label generation, and handoff to a shipping carrier.
Good fulfillment is invisible — orders arrive when promised, in the expected condition, without drama. Bad fulfillment is the single most common cause of negative reviews in e-commerce.
We do fulfillment in-house at our production facility in the US rather than outsourcing to a third-party print provider. It adds operational complexity but lets us maintain tight quality control on every piece.
