Hanging tips

The 57″ rule

Hang each piece so its center sits at 57″ from the floor. It's the height galleries use — it places the art at average eye level regardless of the piece's size.

Above a sofa

Pick a piece that's 2/3 to 3/4 of the sofa's width. Leave 6–10″ between the top of the sofa and the bottom of the frame.

Staircase gallery

Step your pieces up with the stairs. A straight line connecting the centers of each piece should parallel the banister — not the floor.

Grid vs salon

Grid hangs (uniform size, tight spacing) read as calm and modern. Salon hangs (mixed sizes, organic arrangement) read as collected and curated. Both look great — just pick one and commit.

Gallery-set groupings

  • Triptych (3 × 16×20): one continuous composition split across three panels. Works over a mantel.
  • Classic salon (5 pieces, mixed): one 24×36 anchor, two 11×14s, two 8×10s. Staircase or entryway.
  • Grid of four (4 × 12×16):tight modern grid with 2″ gaps. Looks great in dining rooms.
  • Nursery trio (3 × 11×14): balanced symmetry above a crib.
