Prompt engineering is the practice of writing text inputs that steer an AI model toward the specific outputs you want.
Prompt engineering is the skill of crafting text prompts that reliably produce the desired output from a generative AI model. For image models, this means choosing subject, composition, style, medium, and mood language that the model recognizes and weighs appropriately.
Good prompt engineering is usually more about specificity than length. Naming specific art movements, mediums, and artists the model was trained on anchors its output far better than stacking up adjectives like "beautiful" or "cinematic."
Different models have different prompt conventions. Some respond well to natural language; others work better with comma-separated keyword lists. Learning a specific model's idioms is part of the craft.
