Archival Paper

Archival paper is acid-free, lignin-free paper designed to resist yellowing and degradation for 100+ years under normal conditions.

Archival paper — sometimes called "conservation-grade" or "museum-quality" paper — is made from either 100% cotton rag or purified alpha-cellulose. Both are pH-neutral or slightly alkaline, eliminating the acid content that causes ordinary paper to yellow and become brittle over decades.

True archival paper also excludes lignin (the plant compound that yellows wood-pulp paper), uses neutral buffering agents, and is typically certified to ISO 9706 or the stricter ISO 11108 for permanence.

For fine-art prints you want to last, archival paper is non-negotiable. Combined with pigment inks and UV glazing, it's what turns a print into an heirloom rather than a 5-year object.
