A month after we learn the famous Obama Hope poster is headed for the Smithsonian, we find out the Associated Press is alleging copyright infringement of the photograph on which the poster is derived.
Shepard Fairey, the artist who created the poster, admits the use of the photograph, but claims it falls under “fair use” guidelines. The outcome of this may have important implications for photographers and artists – It’s worth keeping an eye on.

How could it be copyright infringement if he used the pose in the photo? Is the AP just upset that the did not get credit for the photo in the first place?
